Gallery for Kidchan

Gallery for Kidchan
Lo and behold...!

"This totally altered my perception of the Iguanas."

Kidchan,a.k.a Tan Kit Mun might be the greatest Malaysian illustrator I look up to.

Ya hear that? she is a MALAYSIAN! Too bad she isn't a Penangite.(sobs*)

Anyway, she is from Ipoh, Perak. =)

"Bleed like me"

Every single piece of her artwork is distinctively unique that it always stands out among other drawings.

She has a blended style of art when first developed using traditional materials. After discovering digital media, she started incorporating it more and more into her style.

Her colour palette is deeply saturated and never failed to capture my attention.

Never

See..I told you so..

"The Prince and I"

There's certainly something special about her art.

Instead of solid black, Kidchan tends to choose other colour to paint the darker areas or shadow.(Would you like your shadow in aquamarine or champagne red?)

"here by".. simply love this one

The dreamy effect she portrayed in her drawings are fantastic and magical and thus you can find hints of surrealism.

Kidchan started her path to an artist since she was in her high school. The interesting bit is...

She is genuinely interested in science( her childhood dream was to be a scientist)but sadly poor in calculations.

Moreover, she noticed that she spent more time on doodling in text books than listening to teachers. And hence, she decided to lay down her pathway as an artist. (Haha, I can never do that..)

"Blossom" (not the alpha powerpuff girl with haircut.)

Kidchan did have some basic art training when she was in primary school at an art center along with her sister but as told by her, she just managed to learn to draw an apple and how to make stuff with paper clay at that center.

Now, she had graduated from The One Academy of Communication Design.

"The Tunnel" - Kidchan might be the only student in Malaysia who wore and likes the local pinafore. They look like as if they were from the Evangelion Genesis series to her.

Too bad I can't upload the pics in full size due to the blog's template. Yet I can't bear to change the blog's skin.

This blog is partly extracted from the interview between Rachel and Kidchan.
